With Virtual Port Monitor, you
can capture output from a printer that would normally go to a communications
port. Useful for second stage processing such as distilling, ripping, or
simple distribution of printer output.

Version 3.0a contains a change
to the naming convention, using decimal numbers instead of
hexidecimal numbering. Other minor
improvements are also included.
Version 3.0b contains a change
to temporary file handling for Windows NT. Now the
spool directory, as seen in Printers|Server
Properties, is used. Also a fix for spooling to the root
directory of a drive is included.
Version 3.0c contains a speed enhancement
and automatically disables bi-directional printing.
Version 3.0d contains an error
handler for offline volumes.
Version 3.1 adds Multi-Port data
forwarding.
Version 3.1a fixes a problem with
the configuration dialog.
Version 3.2 contains security fixes
for Windows NT and adds "Direct to File",
"Print to Logfile", and "Store
in User Subdirectory" features. NT users can select
a security account to run the post-print
application.
Version 3.2a fixes the reading
of the password and username from the registry and adds
the domain to the security configuration.
Version 3.2b adds Drag and Drop
Printing.
Version 3.2c fixes the registration
of drag and drop printing if the extension was already registered
by another program.
Version 3.2d adds environment variables
and applies the selected security context to the
entire printing and configuration
process.
Version 3.2e fixes a bug in the
security configuration and caches the login token for Windows NT.
Version 3.2f fixes a problem with
creating new ports and failure to run the post-print application on
Windows 2000.
Version 3.2g contains fixes for
NT/2000 to improve reliability while using a security context and adds
2 numerical logfile date selections
to normalize sorting of dated files.
Version 3.2h fixes various security
issues when the output directory is located on another
server. It also fixes a problem
where the configuration dialog would be displayed improperly
after a shell logoff / logon sequence.
Speed enhancements are also included.
Version 3.2I addresses problems
that occur when a Macintosh query is performed.
It also fixes the add port dialog
closing when a port name is not specified or when the passwords
do not match.
Version 3.2J creates a DOS device
for ports named LPT1:-LPT8: for NT/2000. It also filters out ports from
the forwarding list that are unusable.
Version 3.2K fixes a problem where
NT/2000 DOS devices would not work after the computer is restarted.
Version 3.2M adds printer forwarding
to support USB and other printers that port forwarding does not address.
Other minor fixes are also included.
Version 3.2N resolves a username
and password storage issue with Windows XP. A context sensitive help file
was also added to the distribution.
Version 3.2o adds the ability to
place the filename and any environment variables anywhere on the command
line for the post-print application. Also added are 8 more choices of output
filename formats. A developer interface was also added.
Version 3.2p corrects a problem
introduced by 3.2o where the port configuration is not loaded for the first
job after a restart.
Version 3.2q adds a logon button
for NT/2000/XP users. It also removes the access control entries from the
windowstation and desktop objects properly. It also fixes a situation where
the logon context may not have proper access to read from the temp file
in the spool directory. Additionally, the period (".") is now an allowed
character in automatic filenames.
Version 3.2r contains a fix to
the setup routine, where AVPSetup would remain running after the software
is activated, causing the add port dialog not to be displayed through printer
properties.
