The House-Building Adventure

We're building a bit of a dream on 29.84 acres of woods and wetlands in Meriden, NH.  Our new timber-framed house is being built by a trio of local contractors.

Beth selects hearthstones from the rubble following the blasting for our foundation (late April 1999).

The house site with the foundation footings in place (June 1999).

The crane raises the first bent of the timber frame (October 1999).

The second bent goes up.  Note that the beams above the first floor are in place and being supported by temporary bracing.

The third bent goes up on the west end of the house.

The fourth bent begins its ascent.  Note the tight squeeze between the crane and the adjacent maple tree.
