Writer and pilot Sparky Imeson gave me one of the best resources I ever received as a new writer. My copy of Rodale's The Synonym Finder is completely dog-eared and it's a book I use almost every day. If you're ever stuck for the right word, or need a different or related word, this book is a life-saver. Thanks, Sparky!

Writers Weekly.com is an ezine for writers edited by Angela Hoy, which I have found to be entertaining and educational. Best of all, you can subscribe for free!

If you've always wanted to share your thoughts with the world, Wordpress offers a free web log or "blogging" site. You can view Eliza's occasional blog, Urban Homesteader, here.

If you love to read, you're bound to love the serendipitous concept behind BookCrossing.com Release your favorite book "into the wild," and read about its travels online.

Slow Food is an international organization that promotes the philosophy of the "honest pleasures of food." This group is very different from other gourmet organizations, and its members share a passion about the critical links between food, culture and the environment.

The International Food, Wine and Travel Writers' Association is a terrific resource, especially if you write travel articles.

The Colorado Authors League is a wonderful community of writers in Colorado. The organization serves active authors of books and screenplays, as well as writers of poetry, short stories, essays and articles who are regularly published in national or regional publications on a freelance basis.
