JOURNALS

A periodical is any publication whose issues appear at stated or regular intervals, which means for most of what you will use, magazines and newspapers.  A journal is a magazine that deals with current material about some special interest.  These were the closest to useful for undergraduates.

Lopez, A. (Ed.) (2003). Críticas. Latest Issue.  NY:  Reed Business Information.  [Shelved in current PER]  This may be of interest to education majors or anyone interested in reviews in English of books in Spanish, and related subjects.

Montgomery, E.(?) (Ed.) (2003).  Romance Notes. Latest Issue.  Chapel Hill, NC:  University of NC Dept. of Romance Languages.  [Shelved in current PER]  Reviews of stories, novels, and authors, some Hispanic, and mostly in English.

NEWSPAPERS

There really are no newspapers for things Hispanic in the library.  There is at least one on the web listed on the Web-sites page.  There are Spanish language newspapers in the metropolitan area but you will have to check the phone book, or, more likely, find them at CVS or the like, in areas that Hispanics shop.

DIRECTORIES

You are probably familiar with the "phone book."  That is a directory.  There are directories for every imaginable kind of organization as well as "Hispanic Yellow Pages" type publications.  Rather than send you to some other library, the web-sites page, or once again, out on the street, just try the online version.  It may not help with your class paper, but you can at least find a good Hispanic meal.  Something similar which does not take so much time to load is the restaurantes at miatlanta.com.
