Introduction
The information included here is intended to be a writers aid, a general reference of Technologies as they are most commonly depicted in science fiction. It was originally intended to be utilized within another project and is available here in a stand-alone format to provide easy access to the people involved. The SF Technical Overview is a glossing over and rundown of the technologies and technical systems from as many different sources of Science Fiction as possible on the assumption that there really is not that much different between them. The entries are intended to provide an idea of what the system does, and the basis on which it operates... No genuine attempts are made to explain how such a device would really work with real world physics, and some assumptions are made as to how the device is suppose to operate. REMINDER: I do not claim to be an expert, or have any detailed knowege about advanced warp theories, I simply spend too much time watching TV.
The write-ups provided are for the system in general. For example, a hand blaster is the same as a ship mounted blaster, the only difference being the size and power of the output.
Example of Write-ups:
Heading
Write-up sketching out approximately what the tech does, maybe with a little about how it does it.
- [Some of the shows that utilize the tech, the first ones that pop into my head, not the only shows that have ever used it.]
