Serial Experiments Lain.
Lain.
It took me a while to figure out why I liked this series so much, it turns out that while I like a lot of the shows theories about all humans being subconsiously linked, and power corrupting people into thinking they are gods. The show also shows some interesting uses and applications for the Internet.
I think that in the end I like the series best simply because of Lain. I love the character, who she is, what she wants, and the helpless feeling she has as she goes through life and trying to avoid life, until she learns how to control her own destiny.Incidentally, the opening theme song is by Boa, and is called Duvet. The extended version is wonderful, so is the extended remix, although it takes in getting used. If you can find the MP3s for the theme, they are well worth the listen.
A question about the word Navi...What exactly does the word mean? I remember reading one page (whoes address I have lost) an explanation saying that Navi referes to a specific type of computer, although I am not sure I agree with everything that page said... while it did back its claims up, I thought their evidence could point just as easily to the old Amiga computers. So since they refer to all the different types of computers in Lain (Palm Tops, little messengers, desktops, and the rest) as Navis I am wondering if that is just another word for computer? I have also noticed that while the old Japanese Transformers refered to their computers as computers, the Transformer Beast Wars II series also referes to their computers as Navi.
