event: A message containing attributes describing a particular condition in the network.
event filter: A mechanism which samples incoming event messages. If an event is the type specified in an event filter, and it matches the constraints specified in the filter, it is admitted to the TIAS server.
problem: A problem consists of network events or patterns of network events. TIAS users define problems based on situations they need to know about. When a TIAS client subscribes to a view which includes the problem, the record of each problem instance is sent to that client.
problem instance: An individual occurrence of a defined problem.
problem overview: The problem overview is the main TIAS window. It shows a list of problems with information about each problem.
subscribe: To indicate, via signal to TIAS server, that a TIAS client should be sent a record of a certain defined problem.
view: A view is a defined set of problems. If a view is selected, the problems it specifies appear in the problem overview.
