Floating

Up high across the sky is a world in love with a dream
Way down below lie the cities and roads where nothing is quite what it seems
Where people cling to their things and their patterns

Floating ... I leave the world in a different way when I'm
Floating ... through the stars as they shake the milky way
Floating ... there's no time to guess - jump from the nest and you're floating

Amber antennas in lavender skies transmitting orange and red
Translucent armies of blue butterflies fluttering under my bed
I heard everything that you said in monochrome rainbows
Now baby please hold me

Floating ... I levitate ten miles above the moon
Floating ... I'm hovering in the corner of your room
Molting ... the feathers fall - can't keep me down when I'm floating

She picks a flower for the March hare who lives beneath the fir tree
See through the windowpane he's left his aeroplane to somersault without wings
At first I thought it was me till he melted through you

Floating ... I disappear into the stratosphear
Floating ... you see me here but I'm really over there
Floating ... I move through the night like a satellite when I'm floating

Back down to life on the ground ... see things the ordinary way
To know how it feels to drift over wet fields and ponder the gravity rein
Oh, to float off on a wave to be swallowed by clouds
