BIO

Hello! My name is Karl A Vogelheim. I was born a long time ago in the state of Michigan. While I moved around a lot as a toddler due to my Dad working in the automotive industry, I have lived most of my life in Michigan. We moved to the Detroit area where I attended numerous Catholic schools. Upon graduation from high school, I attended Michigan State University I graudated with a BA in History. Since then, I have acquired my Masters Degree in Space Studies from the University of North Da- kota. I have enjoyed my studies as they have given me both some insight into why various peoples act the way they do and what we may all do in the fu- ture.
My career has been centered around the United States Air Force. The first step was Air Force ROTC at Michigan State University. I graduated from Michigan State and I was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force on 2 Sept 89.
From there I went to Navigator training at Mather AFB, CA in Sacra- mento. The Navigator course is nine months of hard work. I graduated and got assigned to the KC-135. From there I went to Castle AFB, CA to learn about the KC-135R. Upon completion of that training, I was assigned to the 92d Aerial Refueling Squadron at Fairchild AFB, WA. I spent seven and half years there but I decided it wasn't what I wanted to do with my life. So I left the active duty Air Force and joined the Air Force Reserves. Currently I am at Selfridge ANGB, MI with the 63rd Air Refueling Squadron. I started as a Nav but was given the opportunity to become a pilot. After a little over a year of very difficult work, I went to Altus AFB, OK to learn what the front seat of the KC-135 was all about. Now I'm back with the 63rd, loving life.
My military service has been very rewarding as I have been able to see a great deal of the world. I have been to Europe, Asia, and various places in the States. I have had the opportunity to interact with various cultures and see things that I never would have had I not joined. Additionally, I have met some fantastic people. I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Recently my life has taken a different turn. I have been single through all of this time. I have enjoyed it immensely. However I met a very special lady recently (Barb, take a bow). After a slightly rough start, we have decided there is no better person in the world for each other and we have decided to get married. The blessed event shall happen on 10 May 2003.
