My "Avengers" #501 hasn't come yet, but "UItimate Spider-man" #65 came. Great book, as usual. This issue dealt with Peter's frustration at his powers never being of any use when it comes to protecting those he loves. Bendis has a gift for depicting realistic conversation, showing true interaction between the characters' dialogue instead of the often independent lines that other writers create.

Not a lot of books this week, but two of the biggest, "Avengers" #501 and "Ultimate Spider-man" #65, both of which I have direct subscriptions from Marvel, so I couldn't pick them up at the store.  A couple of books that came out today are different and don't get enough publicity.  They are in DC's "Focus" line, and are called "Hard Time" and "Kinetic".  "Hard Time" is written by Steve Gerber and illustrated by Brian Hurtt.  "Kinetic" is written by Kelley Puckett and illustrated by Warren Pleece.

I participated in the first live chat for a members only comic book forum I joined in the spring.  The best thing about a members only forum is that it doesn't have the omni-present idiots that populate the public boards.  It's possible to have a discussion without people flaming each other.

What is Brian Bendis going to do to the Avengers?  Vision is down, who is next?  Brian Bendis' writing has never let me down.  His Daredevil is in my top 5 most anticipated books each month.  I loved his Alias (not related to the TV show). That said, I'm not exactly thrilled with the planned line-up.  Wolverine is in too many books, already, and Spidey isn't supposed to be a team player.  We'll see.  Avengers 500 was definitely a good read.  The "Director's Cut" came out this week, and provides a little insight into the thoughts of both writer and artist (David Finch).  Check it out.
