WARRENSBURG MONTAGE PRINT By James K. Bixby The "Old and New Warrensburg" print is a montage of images from around Warrensburg that might best represent the area. The central images that are seen are that of George Graham Vest, and Old Drum, underlined by a few lines from Vest's eloquent speech given at the Old Drum Trial. To the right of these is the Lutheran church on Maguire St. that can be seen as you enter the northern part of town. Surrounding this are the B-2 Stealth Bomber and the A-10 Wart hop, both stationed at nearby Whiteman Air Force Base. Also along the right side of the print are the columns that were once a part of the Citizen's Bank but now stand at the entrance to Grover Park. Below this is a silhouette of one of the many mules that were once raised in the area. These supplied not only the farm industry, but the United States Army as well. In the bottom right hand corner is the downtown water tower, another part of the Warrensburg skyline. Across the bottom of the print is the old Missouri Pacific Depot, Innis Mills, and a map of Warrensburg with the proposed bypass routes of highway 13. Above this is the Administration building on the Central Missouri State University campus and it's namesake, the Mule. To it's right is a view of the downtown area looking up West Pine Street, towards Holden Street. In the upper left hand corner of the print is the Johnson County Courthouse, and the logo for the City of Warrensburg. |
