William Honachefsky is an environmental scientist and a licensed professional
planner and licensed land surveyor in New Jersey. He has been involved in land use planning and environmental protection for
more than 35 years. During that time, he has conducted more than 1,000 environmental investigations and collected thousands
of samples of soil, water, air, sediment, fish, and benthic macroinvertebrates. In his career, he has worked for several private
engineering firms, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, the New Jersey Department of Transportation, and
the USDA Soil Conservation Service. He is the author of three books on land use and environmental protection. He also lectures
and consults frequently on ecologically based municipal land use planning and environmental protection issues and is considered
both a national and international expert in these areas. He is the author of more than 60 published scientific reports and
papers on water resources and watershed protection, stormwater runoff, soil erosion and sediment control, and local land use
planning.
